Why do I want it?
There are many possible reasons. Here are a few.
You might want to save time. Maybe you have a full-time job that is less than fulfilling, and you want to spend your mornings, evenings, and weekends doing what you love instead of buying, cooking, and eating food.
You might want to save money. Maybe you are looking to start a business and want to lower your monthly food costs so you can reduce your burn rate and financial risk. Better than eating ramen!
You might want to feel healthier. Maybe nutritional deficiencies are unnecessarily lowering your quality of life. How can you be sure unless you try a diet that is known to be nutritionally complete?
Or maybe you want to lose weight. Restricting your diet to a single, nutritionally complete source can help reset a dysfunctional relationship to food and eating.
Or maybe you’re trying to build muscle. Instead of eating a ton of meat or eggs or protein shakes with your workout, you could choose a single, convenient source that is designed to give you the extra protein you need, without overdosing on any nutrients or leaving anything out.
But you don’t need a big, life-changing reason to want it. Sometimes it’s just nice to have a convenient, healthy alternative to snacking on empty calories when you’re caught with an empty fridge on an empty stomach. Think of it as food insurance. You should never have to resort to junk food.
Why not give it a try?
What do I get?
Each order includes one or more bags of powder, either samples of a single meal or a bulk bag with a scoop to measure each meal. You can then mix this powder with a certain amount of water and oil (or milk, depending on the recipe), to make a nutritionally complete drink.
Is the oil included with the powder?
No, you have to buy the oil separately. Fortunately, it’s pretty cheap and easy to find at local grocery stores.
How much oil or milk do I need to add?
It varies depending on how many calories you want, but it’s usually around one or two tablespoons of oil per meal (or one or two cups of milk per meal, for milk-based recipes). Instructions with the exact amounts and calories are included on the label.
What kind of oil can I use?
Any oil that is mostly monounsaturated fat is a good choice, because it is easily digested and liquid at room temperature, but stable enough not to go rancid or oxidize. And unlike either saturated or polyunsaturated fat, no one says it’s bad for you!
Avocado oil is arguably the best monounsaturated option in terms of taste, but it’s also the most expensive. Olive oil is similar nutritionally, but many people dislike the taste. Sunflower oil is relatively inexpensive and neutral in taste, and decent nutritionally as long as you get the high-oleic variety. You should avoid canola oil and other seed oils, even though they are very cheap, as they are lower in monounsaturated fat and very high in inflammatory omega-6 fats which go rancid easily and can cause a variety of health problems!
Store your oil in a cool, dark place and learn to identify the smell of rancid fats – similar to drying paint (oxidized omega-6), or in some cases, rotting fish (oxidized omega-3)! If the oil is rancid, throw it out – it’s the oil equivalent of moldy bread and very harmful to your health. Unfortunately, much of the oil that is sold, especially in clear containers, is at least partly rancid. Many brands of olive and avocado oil are even illegally adulterated with cheaper oils!
If you don’t mind doing a little extra work to get the healthiest option, coconut oil is probably the safest from rancidity and adulteration because of its saturated fat content. The drawback is you have to melt it first, unless you live in a hot climate. Similarly safe options with a more luxurious taste and texture include heavy cream, or the coconut cream from a can of coconut milk. Though you may then have to contend with the misinformed people who are still afraid of saturated fat, even after more recent science has shown it to be safer than other fats!
There is no need to supplement additional omega-3 fats, because every Super Body Fuel formula now includes at least 100mg per meal of long-chain DHA from a vegan algal oil, plus trace amounts of ALA from the other plant ingredients!
When do I get it?
You can expect to receive your order within a few days of payment, if the product is in stock and you are in the US. If a product is out of stock when you order, it may take as much as a week or two for your order to arrive.
Outside the US, shipping will generally take a couple weeks.
Will I get a tracking number when my order ships?
Yes, you will receive a tracking number by email, once your order is out for delivery. Usually this will happen within a day or two of placing your order.
How do I reduce my shipping costs?
You can optimize shipping costs by ordering more at once. For example, a medium box for $10 shipping will hold up to four small bags of Milk Fuel or Keto Fuel, or three bags of Athlete Fuel or Super Fuel. Ordering three or four bags at once instead of one or two will make the shipping more efficient and reduce the cost per bag.
Also, if your order total is $100 or more, shipping within the US is free.
Do you ship outside the US?
Yes! You can order no matter where you are in the world – with a few exceptions, like Germany (it’s hard to get anything through German customs) and now, the UK (Brexit, sorry). The only drawback is that international shipping is much more expensive, and takes a lot longer. Depending on your country, you may end up being stuck with extra fees and taxes as well.
How do I use it?
First you have to mix the powder with oil and water, or milk. Then, let it chill in the refrigerator for a few hours, ideally. It tastes better that way. And finally, you drink it. Pretty simple.
Do I need a blender to mix it all up?
A lot of people like using a blender, but you don’t need one. A shaker bottle is a convenient and cheap alternative – one bottle is the perfect size for a meal.
Why do I have to let it sit in the fridge?
Letting the mixture sit in the fridge does two things. First of all, it gives time for the powder to dissolve more thoroughly and for the flavors to mix and mellow out. If you are making Keto Fuel or Super Fuel, for example, this allows the salty, sour, and bitter tastes of the electrolytes to dissipate as the ions dissociate. It also allows the fiber to absorb water and expand, thickening the resulting mixture slightly and giving it a smoother texture.
Secondly, it just tastes better cold! Think smoothie or milkshake.
Is it perishable? How long is it good for?
The powder is nonperishable. It should be good for at least a year, sealed and stored dry. Once mixed with water or milk, it can last for a few days in the fridge. Unrefrigerated, try to drink it within a few hours.
How should I drink it?
However you want! Some people like to drink it in little sips throughout the day, while others drink a meal at a time. Just be careful that you don’t chug it down too fast – your stomach might not appreciate receiving an entire meal’s worth of food in a few seconds!
Can I supplement it with other foods?
Of course! You don’t have to eat it exclusively – just fit it into your lifestyle however you want. Some people like to blend it with a banana, or have it for breakfast and lunch while eating a normal dinner.
And you are always welcome to add your own flavorings – berries are a great addition, and there are lots of different spices to try. Experiment!
